Beginners Somatic Breathwork Series With Rebecca Dennis 4 Week Course – Every Monday from 13th January 2025 to 3rd February 2025 – 7:30pm – 9:30pm

This beginner’s somatic breathwork course offers tools for resilience to breathe through life and gain an understanding of the latest science on how we can upgrade our body’s systems.

By bringing in somatic healing resources – breathwork, awareness, movement, felt senses, nervous system regulation, self-acupressure and mindset tools – you will better understand and feel empowered to navigate the language of the nervous system, your past experiences and learned behaviours to help bring balance back to the body’s systems, unlearn patterns and stabilise racing thoughts and hearts. Our past experiences shape the way we live, love and work. We are wired for connection and when we feel disconnected, we feel out of balance on a mental, emotional and physical level.

While we may think our minds are in charge, the core of our daily experience and the way we navigate the world begins in our bodies with the autonomic nervous system. This is the place where stories emerge about who we are and how the world works, what we do and how we feel. It is from our life experiences and how we process them that shape our feelings of safety and connection. It is our breath that keeps us connected and grounded. If you can recall an event when you triggered, such as having to speak in front of the class, being bullied or getting lost when very small in a crowd, each time you go back into a similar event – like having to present in front of your colleagues – your mind knows that you are safe, but your body hasn’t necessarily caught up with you and is frozen in the past.

Providing a deep understanding of the impact the way we breathe has on every aspect of our lives – mentally, physically and emotionally. We will be exploring different breathing techniques to take away and use throughout the day to change our mental and physical states in a positive way and regain balance.

Somatic breathwork is proven to have lasting effects on both your physical and mental health, providing a method you can use every day to help navigate your way through life. The breath is a barometer to your inner state of being. The power of conscious breathing can help us face, recover and heal from trauma, stress, pain and low self esteem.

Breathing is the only autonomic system in the body that you can learn to control to change your sense of wellbeing and anchor your mind. Most of us hold physical, mental and emotional tension in our bodies which can impact our health. Although we cannot change or control everything around us, we can control our response and how it affects our physiology. Somatic breathwork will help you release tension, let go of unhealthy patterns and coping mechanisms and quieten the chatter in your mind. Indeed, this profound power we all possess can be used every day to change our breathing patterns, thereby altering our nervous system and state of mind.

Somatic breathwork keeps us connected with our body and mind so we are more able to listen to the messages and alerts being sent via the brain to the body and the nervous system to brain.

This can help you let go of unhealthy breathing habits, such as shallow breathing and breath-holding,  bringing an understanding of your own breath pattern and release both physical and emotional tension from the body. This can dramatically shift the way you feel in your body and bring higher states of awareness

The  4 week course will be covering :

– Understanding breathing patterns

– Effective and easy-to-use tools to regulate the nervous system.

– How the way people breathe affects their physiology – ways to aid sleep, alleviate stress and anxiety levels, increase mental focus, boost cardiovascular system, energy levels and physical performance.

This is an online course and will be delivered via Zoom in 4 sessions over a 4 week period.
