We all are aware of the importance of getting a good night’s shut eye yet many of us scrape by with a few hours whilst spending time worrying in the day about not getting enough sleep. Our ancestors didn’t worry if they had to tend the fire in the middle of the night or keep watch for predators. They would catch up and doze during the day. An afternoon siesta these days is much harder with a wired mind and guilt for sleeping whilst on the job. Whilst this workshop won’t be sending you to sleep it will take you and your body into a very deep state of relaxation which is conducive to a feeling of well-being.

We will journey into a space between awake and asleep. By turning our attention inwards we are taken to a place where deep transformation within the nervous system and subconscious mind is possible.

This month’s theme for the Slow Down Session’s is the earth element to bring in grounding, stability and strength. Connecting to earth is the place we go to for sustenance, both our basic needs for food, water and shelter, and our emotional needs — nurturing, wisdom, perspective and inspiration. Working with earth energy helps us get grounded, feel at home in our bodies and surroundings, and find our sense of home no matter where we are. Working with earth element encourages us to feel our feet on the ground and get out of our heads, and be fully present through our senses, bringing us evermore into our body and improve our understanding and relationship with our own inner and outer eco systems.

The earth element is connected with our Root Chakra – the chakra of our foundations. The Root Chakra is associated with the physical body that includes the adrenal glands, colon, kidneys, skeleton/bones, muscles, and arterial blood that flows through the left chamber of the heart, carrying oxygen and nutrients to our body tissue.

The energy of Root chakra allows us to harness courage, resourcefulness and the will to thrive and breathe fully during challenging times. Root chakra connects us with the wisdom and teachings of our ancestors, remembering how we lived in harmony with the earth and
