Rebecca offers a multitude of breathing techniques either on zoom or in person to help people access the full potential of their respiratory system for better physical, emotional and mental well-being.
Her sessions are bespoke specifically for the client’s needs.
Often, clients express that they’ve been “doing” a lot of therapy, yet they still don’t feel the desired benefits. This can occur when therapy places emphasis on mindset, leading to the assumption that thoughts alone are the source of their struggles. However, it’s crucial to recognise that it’s not simply “all in your head.”
Many therapeutic approaches that focus on discussing past and present experiences, teaching mindset techniques, or relying solely on the psychodynamic relationship can be beneficial, but they often hit a wall.
In some cases, our brains and bodies have been shaped by our experiences, creating deep-seated beliefs that remain hidden from our conscious mind—beliefs like “I am a bad person,” “I’m not enough,” “I’m alone,” or “I don’t feel safe.” These beliefs can be so ingrained that individuals might not even realise they hold them deep within the subconscious until a trigger arises.
What is integrative somatic breathwork therapy?
Somatic is a term that’s been used more frequently over the past few years as scientific research has proven that, as humans, we store memories, experience and emotions in our body.
For example, this is why many people express a feelings and sensations with anxiety even in the absence of anxious thoughts. It’s also why you may find yourself not feeling safe or hypervigilant on occasions, times of year or in or around certain people or environments, even if there is no obvious reason. Often, your body is reminded of something from the past and is sending an alert, a pause, or message.
Somatic therapies were created to help trauma survivors finally experience relief from their trauma symptoms such as flashbacks, difficulty sleeping, dysregulated eating patterns and chaotic relationships and lifestyles.
However, over the last number of years, somatic therapy has been effective in helping individuals who struggle with all kinds of stressors and has been effective in helping them finally experience relief.
In integrative somatic breathwork therapy, Rebecca empowers clients to understand the language of their breath and the nervous system, and how to cultivate internal and external awareness. We begin by identifying areas of tension and areas of constriction, as well as thoughts, feelings and behaviour’s and promote a feeling of calm and safety and bring these to conscious awareness.

Most of the population only uses a third of their full capacity, so it’s no surprise that dysfunctional breathing is a contributor to feeling out of balance. As human beings, we retain tension, trauma, unhealthy habits and emotional baggage within our bodies; in doing so, we create physical, mental and emotional blockages affecting our mind and body, immune system and lung capacity. Our breathing patterns often mirror our life patterns and by becoming aware of your breath and learning how to use it as a tool you can fundamentally improve your mental and physical wellbeing.
The initial session begins with a short consultation. The client will be observed on how he/she is currently breathing and asked questions about what they want to gain and attain. After this Rebecca will guide the client through a breathing session combining somatic and bodywork techniques and give them tools for a self-practice.
It might be improving their physical performance, confidence, reducing stress, symptoms of asthma, or coping with panic or anxiety attacks. It might be letting go of unprocessed emotion, trauma and releasing tension held deep within.
Rebecca combines techniques such as acupressure, movement, bodywork, somatic trauma counselling techniques, parts work, nervous system regulation, bi-lateral processing and sound with the breathwork.
