This time of year can be a mixture of emotions and energy levels and then it’s hard to miss the messages of ‘New Year, New You’ that gets bandied around. The pressure to start the new year with a bang, to make big and dramatic changes is all over the internet with messages of new fitness regimes and detoxes.

So I want to suggest a gentler intention, that we can collectively explore together into the new year with gentle & quiet presence.

Welcome in this New Year gently with quiet presence and rather than committing to making big changes from today, make small changes every day.

Allow the breath to help you commit to making small changes. Starting there and treading lightly with your intentions, words, how you move, going gently with your worries, your dreams, what ifs and healing.

Going lightly and breathing with gentle awareness and compassion. Comparing less, judging less and allowing yourself to gently accept and nurture every part of you.

Even when you are feeling the weight and baggage you can still choose to go lightly and make gradual changes by letting go what you feel you realistically can.

Slow down and breathe even when you need to get there quickly. It’s all in the intention and you have the power within you to become a master at moving in this way.

With quiet and gentle presence we give ourselves permission to feel into our spaces more deeply and with more lasting results. Give yourself permission to let go a little each day and be mindful of those small changes. Winter doesn’t hurry herself to Spring.

Notice the stillness; that pause between inhalation and exhalation, the moment between movement and complete stillness, and carry this sense of limitless expansion of time with you, especially when you feel you have the least amount of time.

When you feel yourself stuck, take all the time you need to practice.. Take time and pause and allow the breath to move through all the feelings and help give insights for the months to come.
